ESL One – Birmingham, 2019

28th May - 2nd June 2019 | Arena Birmingham, UK | Prize Pool: $300,000
ESL One Birmingham 2019

ESL One Birmingham 2019 will try to replicate last year’s incredible success with the same formula that made the 2018 edition the fastest selling ESL Dota 2 tournament ever: top teams and cosplay contests.

ESL ONE BIRMINGHAM 2019 – EVENT OVERVIEW

After the unexpected success of last year’s event, ESL is committed to shatter the records set at the Birmingham Arena and bring even more fun activities, more exciting matches and, hopefully – even more balloons.

ESL One Birmingham proved in May 2018 that UK is the place to be for Dota 2 events organizers, as the event became the fastest selling Dota 2 tournament in ESL history. Not only that, but the Midland’s city appears to be a veritable hub for Dota fans as the crowd gathered to celebrate their favourite teams was, quoting ESL, “one of the best crowds ever in esports.”

The stakes are high for the 2019 edition of the event and ESL is determined to deliver. 8 of the best teams of the Dota 2 scene were already invited while 4 others fought their way through various qualifiers. All have their eyes on the $300,000 prize pool. So make sure you tune in at the end of June for two days of veritable pre summer holidays Dota 2 action.

ESL ONE BIRMINGHAM 2019 – FORMAT

ESL One Birmingham 2019 format is divided into a Group Stage played backstage and the Main Event or the Playoffs, which will be played in front of a live audience.

The Group Stage – Backstage (23rd – 25th May)

The 12 Qualified or invited teams will be placed in two groups of six teams each. Matches will be played in a BO2, round robin, with the top 2 teams advancing to the Upper bracket of the playoffs, 3rd and 4th position teams will be placed in the Lower Bracket and the last two teams will be eliminated.

The Playoffs – Live Event (30th May – 2nd June)

The first match of the playoffs is the first round of the Upper Brackets and will be played backstage on May 30th. Following this, all matches will move in the Arena and, starting May 31st, fans can see their favourites live. Playoffs matches are played in a double-elimination, BO3 format.

ESL One Birmingham 2019 Grand Finals will take place Sunday, June 2nd at 16:00 BST (British Summer Time). The match will be played as BO5.
